Tropic

These are a selection of sketches from my current folio for Adv Higher Art at school. I realised that often collections inspired by birds are either gothic or angelic. I wanted to create a piece with a much more lively feel to it. I wanted to create something alive which would reflect the liveliness of tropical birds. I also wanted to create something which would be "ready to wear" rather than "haute couture" which collections inspired by birds often are. 

My personal favourite is the one third from the right (bottom) inspired by the Toucan. I loved the idea of combing fading fabrics as well as block colour to reflect the characteristics of the bird. Other than that I mostly just love the shape/comfort/sleekness of the dress.
