There shall be snow.

Evening Gown

It's been a while. I'm sorry. The excuse that i'm going to use is that i've been busy revising for my upcoming prelims, which is a complete lie, because everytime i go to revise i get distracted and therefore and up not revising. I'll probably end up doing hasty last minute revision like i always do. Then it's easier to concentrate, becasue then you have to. It's stressful though. When you go to school everybody is fussing about them having done an hour or 20 minutes of revision every night, and then there is me who writes "REVISE" on her hand, and forgets about it almost immediately.

As it's winter now, I decided to draw an evening dress. It'll be made of black spotted burgundy silk, and then shall be covered with same colour burgundy chiffon, so the wearer will obviously not freeze to death if they live in anywhere near Scotland. . . But that doesn't matter. They can buy storage heaters and generators, and boost the economy whilst their electricity bill increases, and increases, and increases because of the daft amount of energy these 'things' use up. And then, finally, she will feel comfortable and warm. Or you could also, of course, wear a jumper.

A patch of elegance.

Show Stall.

Looking back at this picture i realise the many things i'd change. But i suppose that doesn't matter, it's a little late now i believe. Still i'll know for next time. If there is a next time, which there hopefully will be. Near christmas time i think. Hopefully people will then be more willing to spend. They'd better.

Moving onwards, i have a little sketch to show you. I'm sort of really enjoying stripes, tweed and fabric directions at the moment. I'm not sure why but i really like it. I suppose it's the detail and care that would go into making it. Both into the tweed and stripes. Specifically Harris tweed. It's very special, original and really quite sweet. Also, i may just help sustain that industry that way. Lucky them.

Outfit of Elegance.
This outfit is also rather elegant i find. Now to explain. The silk skirt is made with the cross-grain going diagonally downwards, thus hugging the body. The top is to be made of strips of tweed, woven into a striped pattern. Then sewn together in different directions. if you look closely you can see. Also if you have good eye sight, which i don't. I think i might need my eyes tested again. I have this bad type of nightmare that i'll end up with inch thick glasses. I really hope not.

The imperfect perfection.

The scanner being very stupid.

Ruffled Porcelain dress.

It's bizarre how, sometimes, ideas just spring into my mind. Usually i'll start to draw something, beginning at it's head. Sometimes i'll have an idea of what to do, but most of the time i don't. Then, almost magically, while i draw, an idea zoom's into my mind and the dress is born. This is probably to you a load of crap, but thats how i think about it.

Now let's talk about the dress. It was another one of my zoom-into-my-mind ideas. When drawing i realised how opposite the dress really was. The mess being the top half. Then neatness being the bottom half. Let's imagine this dress is pure white. Everything about the person looks stern, even the shoes and the skirt. Then looking away from this you see the shirt and all at once you realise that this person is not at all so stern and precise. She is in fact 'pushing the boundaries' on herself and is therefore a REBEL. Not what you'd expect i presume?

(i can't think of a title... o_o)

Silk shirt and skirt

Yaaasss, Mademoiselle Virgel is pregnant! It's OFFICIAL. Finally. It's so sweet, she's all kind now. She's even buying the whole class food for a leaving party for a friend of mine. Isn't that so sweet? (AGAIN) I was planning on making this friend a chocolate cake as well. That has clearly failed because there is no cake in my kitchen, or in my house. Now i'm hoping Farmfood's does good chocolate cake.
(this post has nothing to do with the above picture, even though it really should...)
